well, I'm sure by now we've all heard about the ruling that made it unconstitutional for the schools to lead the students in the pledge of allegience. Evidentially, this has pissed a lot of people off. Like, a LOT of people. They're all getting mad because they somehow feel robbed that their kids no longer get (have) to say "one nation, under god". The athiest gentlemen who started the suit for his daughter has even recieved threatening phone calls. All because people like him and I do not want our children to grow up being led to believe there is a god. And of couse, like every other time something like this happens, people freak out and go crazy. People are somehow now assuming that it's being made illegal to say the pledge of alliegience. So let me lay it out for you guys that are like that. What has happened, is that they finally realized that it is unconstitutional for teachers and school administrators to lead students in the pledge of alligience, because it contains the phrase "under god" and people are too close-minded to realize that it offends athiests. So from now on, those few minutes at the beginning of class are going to be used for education (gasp) rather than saying the pledge of alligience, which students could very well do at home before they leave. So nobody's getting gypped out of anything. so get over it. On another, more depressing note, John's moving out, and so I've gotta come up with a new roommate with great haste. If any of you wonderful people out in diarylandland want to move to ankeny, IA, feel free to drop me a line and I'll give you the lowdown.
